    Provo City is looking for a part-time Recreation Leader to work with the special events team at Provo Rec Center. Qualified, civic-minded individuals are encouraged to apply.

    What is the compensation?

     

    Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour

     

    Part-time Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive the following perks: a) free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; c) a 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only); and d) discounts from various local and national vendors.

     

    What will I do?

     

    + Organize, schedule, implement, and evaluate assigned recreational special events.

    + Develop registration forms, policies, and practices in collaboration with operations staff.

    + Establish and maintain schedules.

    + Identify and report performance issues to supervisor.

    + Provide informational feedback on event participation level and effectiveness.

    + Solicit information from program participants.

    + Supervise volunteers as needed.

    + Assist other staff members and the public as needed.

    + Perform other related duties as required.

     

    What do I need to apply?

     

    + High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

    + Any experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work.

    + A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.

    + Event-planning experience preferred.

     

    What are the hours?

     

    Monday through Saturday. Flexible hours with actual schedule to be determined by the hiring manager.

     

    What are the physical and environmental factors?

     

    This position requires office work and outdoor recreation work with sun and some adverse weather exposure. May include exposure to high-stress situations or environments , including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances. Requires the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

     

    What is the selection process?

     

    This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

     

    If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
