THE POSITION
As a Honeywell **IT Manager – Compute Engineering** is responsible for managing and coordinating the cloud infrastructure team, ensuring effective resource allocation and employee engagement. This role involves developing technology strategies, implementation plans, operational support and performance reporting of the cloud infrastructure and operations in collaboration with IT and business leadership, focusing on building scalable and supportable cloud infrastructure.
You will report directly to the Director of Data Center and Network Infrastructure who is also responsible for global networking and compute strategy and operations globally. This role will work out of our Morris Plains, Charlotte or Houston location on a hybrid work schedule. This position is intended to convey to the new, independent company, to be named Solstice Advanced Materials when the separation occurs. This is expected to occur in late 2025 or early 2026.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the compute infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and patching activities. Your role will involve ensuring the reliability, security, supportability and performance of our IT systems, as well as implementing and maintaining best practices for server and storage management. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing our server and storage systems, ensuring they align seamlessly with the organization's evolving requirements. Your expertise in compute engineering, problem-solving capabilities, and ability to address complex technical challenges will be critical in maintaining our digital environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Manage and oversee the compute infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and patching activities
+ Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our IT systems
+ Implement and maintain best practices for server and storage management
+ Maintain standard images in compliance with cyber security policy
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute system upgrades and enhancements
+ Monitor the performance of our server and storage systems and report our KPIs to management with recommendations, ensuring swift resolution of technical challenges
+ Document system configurations, processes, and procedures, facilitating knowledge transfer and standardization
YOU MUST HAVE
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
+ 5+ years of experience in compute engineering, server management, and storage management
+ 5+ years of experience with highly virtualized infrastructure (VXRail, VSAN, etc)
+ 3+ years of experience using automation tools for patch management/deployment, performance monitoring and vulnerability management
+ Proficiency in server and storage administration, with a proven track record of accomplishments
+ Experience with hardware and network monitoring tools for alerting and issue resolution
+ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
+ Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
+ Prior experience in infrastructure automation technologies
+ Strong vendor management skills & experience working across geographies
WE VALUE
+ Prior experience with storage services like Nasuni is a plus
+ Prior experience with Rubrick backup solutions is a plus
+ Continued learning of industry best practices and emerging technologies in compute engineering
+ Demonstrated project/program management skills
+ Self-motivated with a demonstrated bias for action
+ Vendor management experience for projects
