The Senior Director for Facilities Management for the Law Center functions as the operational head of facilities management, utilities, custodial and parking services for the Capitol Campus. The Senior Director will be responsible for leading the daily operations and maintenance of campus facility infrastructure, custodial operations, parking operations and development of standard operating procedures, to support effective stewardship of university facility assets at the Law Center and on the larger Capitol Campus. The director will advocate and execute programs to ensure the innovative implementation of facility management technology to support the University in its mission to provide a living and learning campus. Duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide strategic and tactical guidance, advice, and recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer regarding problems and critical matters pertaining to stewardship of campus facilities and infrastructure.
+ Direct, develop, and implement administrative policies and organizational SOPs (standard operating procedures) which identify yearly organization goals, make maximum use of resources, strengthen internal control weakness and reduce operating costs.
+ Plan and direct the work concerning facility operations, and determine and allocate required resources.
+ Perform oversight to the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
+ Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff members, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.
+ Coordinate necessary actions to ensure facilities are appropriately maintained based upon the desires of Law Center leadership, institutional needs, and established rules and policies.
+ Formulate execution plans to forecast the work necessary to ensure the future care of facilities, reviewing records, inspecting equipment, assessing building systems conditions and determining where existing plans are insufficient to assure the appropriate care of the University's physical plant and facility assets.
+ Prepare briefings and justifications as necessary to clearly communicate the need for specific projects and programs.
+ Determine staff requirements for timely and effective project execution and project acquisition strategy, executing appropriate contract vehicles and recommending organizational structure changes to optimize performance.
+ Direct preparation of support materials in support of annual budget requests and end-of-fiscal-year annual reports/requirements.
+ Initiate investigations of poor quality replacement components and parts being supplied by vendors and contractors after analysis of failure rates, reports by maintenance organizations, or complaints from mechanics that the replacement components or parts are faulty.
Work InteractionsThe incumbent reports to the Law Center Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to this position will be the Assistant Director, the Manager of Custodial Services, the Maintenance Supervisor, the Manager of Special Events and Projects, and the Office Manager. This position will interact with the entire Georgetown community and more specifically the Capitol Campus community to proactively implement the facility management strategy. A key focus of this position is the day-to-day management and oversight of Law Center and Capitol Campus Facilities Management staff and operations.
Requirements and Qualifications
+ Requires appropriate degree in Engineering, Architecture, or commensurate experience
+ Requires 10+ years in engineering, architecture, or facilities management
+ Requires experience in higher education or similar work environment
+ Requires experience in a Union (Collective Bargaining Agreement) environment
+ Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Preference for license or certification in the following:
+ Certified Facility Manager (CFM) certification
+ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Physical ConditionsThe work requires some physical exertion such as long period of standing, walking to all building areas to visit work sites and conduct inspections, and recurring bending to study work operations. Work is performed in an office setting, on construction sites, in shops, and throughout all public and private areas of the buildings that are adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The incumbent must inspect all areas in the buildings on a regular basis which requires extra safety precautions and avoidance of trips and falls.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$135,188.00 - $264,291.85
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
