_Dietary Storeroom Attendant - St Joseph Warren Hospital - Mercy Health_

THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Dietary Storeroom Attendant is responsible for performing a variety of duties as it relates to receiving and storage of food and supplies, assembling and delivery of floor stock, and assisting with detail cleaning tasks as assigned. The position is responsible for checking goods as delivered to assure quality and sanitation standards are met and meet established specifications. Proper label and dating and rotation of items is necessary.

Essential Job Functions

+ Works with the delivery personnel to receive deliveries to the department. Utilizes delivery statements to check for accuracy of items received. Checks all goods for quality and established specifications. Unloads palates and organizes items for storage.Moves and lifts items that may be heavy and bulky, requesting assistance as needed to prevent injury. Verifies dates and labels prior to storage of goods. Communicates any discrepancies or concerns to management

+ Stores items in proper locations, rotating product using first in, first out (FIFO) method, and reorganizing as needed. Takes inventory while stocking and organizing and communicates needs or concerns to management including expired items that are discarded. Maintains clean and orderly storage areas

+ Prepares and delivers requested floor stock items to the outlying areas and departments in the hospital. Retrieves storeroom items to restock areas in the kitchen and cafeteria as needed. Keeps cafeteria replenished with supplies and stocks storage areas with items received

+ Replenishes chemicals for dish machine and pot room as needed. Promptly reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Performs a variety of duties related to the cleaning of equipment and work areas in a sanitary manner during daily activities and completes special deep cleaning tasks as assigned

+ Participates in hospital, departmental and unit meetings, and in activities as needed. Trains new employees as requested by supervisors

Education

High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Work Experience

Previous food stocking experience including food rotation (preferred)
