    Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

     

    As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing new or modified equipment at customer facilities to ensure full functionality. You will review performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives, inspect malfunctioning or damaged products to determine the nature and scope of the problem, and recommend repair and replacement solutions. You will coordinate problem resolution with engineering, review machine designs and engineering drawings, and provide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

    Responsibilities

    + Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities to ensure full functionality.

    + Review performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives.

    + Inspect malfunctioning or damaged products to determine the nature and scope of problems.

    + Determine sources of problems and recommend repair and replacement solutions.

    + Coordinate problem resolution with engineering teams.

    + Review machine designs and engineering drawings.

    + Provide on-site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

    + Troubleshoot and/or program PLCs (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Fanuc).

    + Analyze reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and processes.

    + Develop service handbooks and bulletins based on engineering changes.

    + Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service.

    + Handle electrical wiring and conduit requirements.

    Essential Skills

    + Troubleshooting expertise.

    + Ability to read blueprints.

    + Electrical engineering knowledge.

    + Field service experience.

    + Wiring and conduit experience.

    + Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (no experience required) or equivalent field service experience.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with conveyors and hydraulics.

    + Electrical repair skills.

    + Ability to read and interpret schematics.

    Work Environment

    The work environment includes a very large, clean manufacturing space attached to a multi-story office building. When not traveling, you will spend your time troubleshooting equipment. The role involves traveling up to 75 percent, with trips lasting from 3 days to up to 2 weeks, though longer trips are uncommon. You will be traveling 2-3 weeks each month, primarily within the country but occasionally to Mexico and Canada. The work schedule consists of 10-12 hour days, with overtime paid at time and a half for hours worked over 40. While on contract, benefits include 2 weeks (80 hours) of billed PTO, 10 paid holidays, OT pay, and upon hire, tuition reimbursement, access to an onsite clinic free for employees and their families, free medication, a 401k plan, an onsite gym, and a $150 steel toe reimbursement.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $43.00/hr.
