Job Title: Mechanical (Extrusion) Engineer
Job Description
As an Extrusion Engineer, you will focus on optimizing the production of Nylon blown film extruded products, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective manufacturing processes. This dynamic role combines technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving and management, requiring a deep understanding of extrusion technology, material science, and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
+ Design, evaluate, and implement innovative extrusion processes to improve production flow for nylon-based products.
+ Develop and maintain control over manufacturing processes to ensure product consistency, quality, and adherence to industry standards.
+ Provide technical guidance and problem-solving for materials, operational procedures, and equipment, supporting both new and existing production systems.
+ Work cross-functionally with R&D, production, management, and external partners like equipment suppliers and contractors.
+ Identify areas for process improvement, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and maintain product quality.
+ Conduct safety assessments and provide solutions and recommendations for equipment and processes.
+ Evaluate and recommend equipment and processes to ensure compliance with quality standards, increase productivity, and reduce staffing through automation.
+ Provide hands-on technical problem-solving skills and direction to drive continuous improvement.
+ Ensure process stability/capability and drive process improvement through DOE, SOC, and standard work adherence.
+ Prioritize and implement improvement initiatives in productivity, safety, quality, and cost.
+ Confer with vendors and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
+ Interact closely with the Production and Maintenance groups to assist in the implementation and scale-up of new processes and improvement initiatives.
+ Provide analytical problem-solving skills, teamwork, communications, organization/prioritization, time management, initiative, innovation, and attention to detail.
+ Work directly with the corporate OPEX team and the Sales/Marketing group.
Essential Skills
+ 5 - 10 years of practical work experience in Nylon film, blown film extrusion, or film converting.
+ B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or other applicable education.
+ Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including Root Cause analysis techniques.
+ Working knowledge of MS Office, CAD software, and SAP.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
+ Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Solidworks, Autocad, and new product development.
+ Experience in film manufacturing, ideally Nylon film, and film converting.
+ Experience in process development and process control.
+ Experience in working with corporate OPEX teams and Sales/Marketing groups.
Work Environment
This role is set in a manufacturing environment with around 250 employees. The facility is building a new Nylon Film product line, providing an excellent opportunity for growth and innovation. The work involves collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a dynamic and engaging work environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.48/hr.
