Job Title: Instrument Processing TechnicianJob Description

This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical instrument sets and equipment are properly maintained. The role includes tracking lost and broken instrumentation, maintaining digital records of instrumentation in Instrument Tracking System software, performing weekly missing instrument audit reports, and ensuring adherence to established directions in the procedure manual. The technician functions as a team member, supporting department activities to provide optimal instrument and equipment processing and acts as a patient advocate by performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of surgical patients.

Responsibilities

+ Maintain surgical instrument sets and equipment.

+ Track lost and broken instrumentation.

+ Maintain digital records using Instrument Tracking System software.

+ Perform weekly missing instrument audit reports.

+ Adhere to directions in the procedure manual.

+ Support department activities for optimal processing.

+ Function as a patient advocate and support the operating room team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED

+ Three years of instrumentation experience in a hospital setting

+ Completion of vocational program for Central Service (preferred)

+ Certified Central Service Technician certification

+ Instrument Specialist Certification or obtain within 6 months

+ Certified Instrumentation Specialist Certification

Work Environment

The work environment is production-driven, focusing on sterilizing and preparing surgical instrumentation and cases for surgical/operating room floors. The role includes openings for different shifts: Monday to Friday from 2:45pm to 11:15pm, and Monday to Friday from 10:45pm to 7:15am.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
