Job Title: Project Manager

Job Description

This role involves managing small to medium-sized projects to completion, utilizing both internal and external resources. You will oversee the client relationship from assessing their needs through design concept presentations to final project delivery, ensuring a positive experience. Coordination with project teams is essential to maintain compliance with design concepts and timely document completion. You will work with design and technical teams to shape and understand design concepts, presenting and collaborating with clients on approved designs. Budget adherence is crucial, and you'll need to promptly inform relevant parties of any potential variances, making necessary modifications. Collections management for assigned projects is part of your responsibility, including informing the Finance Manager of any issues. The role also involves identifying new business opportunities with existing and potential clients, assigning tasks, overseeing work, providing feedback, and managing a team of 3 to 5 individuals.

Responsibilities

+ Manage small and medium-sized projects to completion, including internal and external resources.

+ Oversee the overall client relationship from initial assessment to final delivery of the project.

+ Coordinate with project teams to ensure compliance with design concepts and timely document completion.

+ Work with design and technical teams to shape and understand design concepts.

+ Present and collaborate with clients on approved design concepts.

+ Ensure adherence to set budgets and inform relevant parties of any potential variances.

+ Manage collections for assigned projects and inform Finance Manager of any issues.

+ Identify and pursue new business opportunities with existing and potential clients.

+ Assign tasks, oversee work, and provide feedback to staff assigned to the project.

+ Manage and develop a team of 3 to 5 individuals.

Essential Skills

+ Project management experience, particularly in commercial workplace projects.

+ Proficiency in interior architecture and scheduling.

+ Knowledge of Revit and Microsoft Suite/Teams.

+ Experience with conceptual design, presentations, and budgeting.

+ Understanding of change orders, commercial interiors, client management, project scope development, and tracking.

+ Ability to write and negotiate contracts for services, consultants, and contractors.

+ Effective communication and leadership skills to manage and lead team members internally and externally.

+ Knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor of Architecture, Design, or equivalent required.

+ 7 to 12 years of relevant post-graduate experience.

+ Experience with materials, furnishings, and construction methods related to interior architecture.

+ Corporate workplace interiors experience is required.

+ Ability to resolve contract and administration issues within the established design context.

+ Interior project experience preferred over exterior/ground-up.

Work Environment

The office has a design-focused team, a technical-focused team, and a graphic design team. The schedule is hybrid, with 3 days in-office and 2 remote (Monday and Wednesday required in-office, other day can be chosen). As a firm, main projects include workplace, retail, and hospitality, with a focus on corporate workplace interiors in Chicago. Education reimbursement is available for passed exams for licensure, and study groups are provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $55.28/hr.
