    We are seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer with a strong background in the industrial space to join our Process Engineering Packaging team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing component packaging for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. This position involves identifying, developing, and commercializing new, improved, and cost-efficient packaging solutions while providing cross-functional support. The engineer will also take ownership of current production-level General Availability packaging systems, conducting root cause analysis and implementing countermeasures to address field quality defects associated with packaging.

    Responsibilities

    + Manage the development of packaging concepts with preferred packaging vendors and component part suppliers.

    + Coordinate packaging performance testing qualifications and validations according to ISTA standards.

    + Plan and direct activities related to the design and development of packaging by analyzing engineering drawings and specifications to determine the physical characteristics of components and special handling and safety requirements.

    + Direct the development of sketches, specifications, samples, and written analyses of proposed packaging solutions for design approvals from cross-functional groups.

    + Provide optimum trailer loading configuration to logistics partners to maximize cubing efficiency.

    + Create, update, and maintain all packaging-specific part numbers in the PLM system.

    + Collect Packaging Data Sheets (PDS) from part suppliers.

    + Create and manage the supplier packaging database.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering.

    + 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

    + Familiarity with packaging base materials and systems.

    + Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD design background .

    + Ability to review, write, and implement packaging SOPs and WIs.

    + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Familiarity with transportation and logistics principles.

    + Working knowledge of palletizing and trailer loading software suites such as TOPS, CAPES, and EasyCargo.

    + Familiarity with Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) calculation methods.

    + Working knowledge of sustainability impact software such as Compass Trayak.

    + Familiarity with industry test standards ISTA and ASTM.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $49.58 - $49.58/hr.
