    Minimum Qualifications

    Three years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above with direct-line supervisory responsibility over two or more subordinates:

    Six years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises plus one of the following:

    1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or

    2. A bachelor's degree.

    OR

    A master's degree plus five years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises; OR

    A doctorate plus four years of supervisory-level experience in a correctional institution, penal institution, or prison enterprises.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

    An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.

     

    In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    This position serves as the Warden/Chief Administrator of Raymond Laborde Correctional Center (RLCC), and Laborde Reception and Diagnostic Center (LRDC). RLCC is a medium custody, Adult Correctional Center, which has an operational capacity of 1,808 offenders and a staff of 334. It will direct, guide, and have the overall supervision of Prison Enterprises Garment Factory, located at RLCC. LRDC is a male reception and diagnosis center that processes, assesses and permanently assigns correctional housing for offenders from five local parishes.

    Position-Specific Details:

    The Warden is responsible for managing, planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating all areas of operation for the care and custody, training, rehabilitation, and welfare of offenders. The warden has authority at the agency level and is on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
