    Description

    As a member of Sargent & Lundy's Environmental Technology team, you will leverage your academic background and experience to conduct evaluations of energy and industrial facilities including natural gas power plants and cement facilities. Your role will involve crafting comprehensive reports on proposed upgrades, modifications, and equipment replacements, as well as defining and implementing complex environmental compliance and permitting projects.

     

    In this dynamic position, you will deepen your engineering expertise while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams. Key responsibilities include:

     

    + Managing time and resources effectively by prioritizing daily tasks for multiple projects in diverse industries.

    + Assessing the design of air and water quality control projects across energy and industrial markets.

    + Performing conceptual design and analyzing the economic viability of carbon capture technologies through various levels of project development.

    + Reviewing both conventional and innovative carbon utilization technologies, such as enhanced oil recovery and sequestration.

    + Preparing preliminary engineering studies for retrofitting existing facilities with air quality control systems.

    + Independently verify the design of vendor-supplied equipment.

    + Maintaining and enhancing your knowledge of industry standards, system design, and emerging technologies.

    + Analyzing/resolving technical issues, development of system specification data, creation of mass and heat balances, as well as presenting your findings and proposals to clients and peers.

    + Developing your career through peer learning, knowledge sharing, and participating in S&L’s System of Processes and our associated “Communities of Practice.”

    + Engaging in industry code committees and conferences.

    + You will also have the chance to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, conduct field verification at plant sites, and attend/present at technical conferences.

    + Qualifications

    Essential skills and experience:

    + This position requires a BS Chemical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.

    + Two or more years of process/engineering experience, required.

    + An understanding of the practical application of chemical/process engineering and technology, including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design.

    + Proficiency with MS Office applications including word, excel and PowerPoint.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Valued but not required skills and experience:

    + Professional Engineer or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer-in-Training.

    + Familiarity with the design and operation of large power industry environmental control systems including flue gas desulfurization systems, fabric filters, electrostatic precipitators, carbon capture systems, low-NOx combustion, and/or selective and non-catalytic NOx reduction systems.

    + Related engineering internship, senior project, or co-op work experience.

    $64,720.00 - $92,930.00
