    THE POSITION

    Are you ready to take the next step in your career journey? The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a Roadway Programs Technician 1 to join the team. This position performs beginning level technical work assisting in the review, analysis and development of maintenance operations in accordance with the department’s policies and procedures.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In this role, you will monitor and inspect roadside programs and contracted services to include the herbicide and Adopt-A-Highway Programs. This includes meeting with contractors and ensuring crews have proper equipment and are following safety standards. You will act as backup for collection and retention of perishable crash data, assist with preparing rental bids, monitor rented equipment usage, and assist with field and stockpile inventory and inspections. You will have the opportunity to perform clerical and manual work in the operation of the county storeroom. This position is responsible for the receipt, storage, distribution, ordering, inventory and recordkeeping of all stocked items in accordance with department policy.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

    + Possible winter shift work as needed.

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

    + One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent;or

    + An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program;or

    + Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    + Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
