    DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily accounting activities for Commonwealth agencies within the Transportation Unit of BAFM’s General Accounting division. Your responsibilities will include the preparation and analysis of federal financial reports and fund financial statements. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage with various local, state, and federal entities involved in the work of the unit.

     

    While reporting directly to the Transportation Unit Manager, you will serve as a key delegate by leading projects, refining internal processes, and establishing procedures. This position also includes the supervision of one Executive Accounting Specialist Trainee and one Accountant 2. Our team will rely on you to make decisions concerning the appropriateness, legality, and overall risk of accounting transactions, mentor other team members, and present logical recommendations to decision makers.     Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

    + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + One year as an Accountant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

    + Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.

    + Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
