    HOUSING SPECIALIST

    We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Housing Specialist to join our team! Homes for the Homeless is searching for an experienced Housing Specialist for our Families w/ Children facility located in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY. As the Housing Specialist you will play a pivotal role in our organization, assisting families with creating an exit strategy and in searching for permanent housing.     ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS:

    Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Manage a caseload.

    + Conduct housing intakes.

    + Create an exit strategy by exploring the client's needs.

    + Complete housing reports and maintain up-to-date progress notes.

    + Meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly move-out targets.

    + Conducts monthly housing workshops with clients.

    + Provide clients with housing referrals and leads.

    + Develop and maintain positive working relationships with DHS staff.

    + Develop and cultivate relationships with brokers, agents, landlords, and community agencies to gain housing leads.

    + Schedule appointments for apartment viewings.

    + Accompany clients to open houses, apartment viewings, and lease signings.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + High School Diploma.

    + Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree preferred.

    + At least one year of relevant experience.

    + Experience working with brokers and landlords.

    + Ability to travel by public transportation to all 5 boroughs and outside of NYC.

    + Bi-lingual is a plus.

    $46,350

     

    9am-5pm Monday- Friday
