Supervisor, Research Center – School of Social Work

Essential functions (job duties):
The Supervisor, Research Center provides overall leadership and direction to the Center for Social Work Research (CSWR) Support Lab in the School of Social Work. This position will train and supervise the Program Project Assistant II; provide high-level management for Research Study Assistants within the CSWR Support Lab; and maintain a system of collecting and displaying the School of Social Work's internal and external grant/contract financial data. In addition, this position leads research teams for external clients, providing program evaluation, needs assessment, survey research, and focus group services. The position is also responsible for project and financial management of work performed in the Support Lab and acts as lead Assessment Coordinator with support from the Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs. This position is expected to participate in the following University/School committees: Bachelor of Social Work Committee, Master of Social Work Committee, and the University Assessment Council. This position reports into the Director, Operations CSWR.
Research and Evaluation
Receive requests for new projects. Work with potential and/or new clients on project design and planning.
Lead final reporting for external clients with assistance from the Program/Project Coordinator.
Provide research services directly to faculty and the School of Social Work Dean, internal and external clients, and community stakeholders for program evaluation, needs assessment, survey research, qualitative data collection, analysis, and visualizations. Develop Cost estimates. Prepare user-friendly reports.
Assessment
Collect and report implicit and explicit curriculum assessment data for all Social Work undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and doctoral programs in compliance with University and Council of Social Work Education standards; provide data to the Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs by semester and as needed.
Work with other faculty and staff to coordinate and present data to track budget, research proposals, external funding, and student outcomes (all those meetings for BSW, MSW, and they Dynamic data group).
Organize and compile University and SSW data for the School of Social Work Dean; respond to requests as given. Provide data annually for the Budget Hearing and annual CSWE Survey.
Maintain tracking and data dashboard of SSW grant proposals and internal MOUs. Update a system, using Power Bi or other applicable tools, to visualize School of Social Work metrics and display in dashboards.
Project Management
Supervise Program Project Assistant and Research Study Assistant. Manage changes in timelines and budgets for Research Lab work. Maintain projected and actual tracking of Research Lab staff time.
Delegate tasks, adhere to project timelines and budgets, and maintain quality control of Research Assistant work. Coordinate with the Lab Coordinator and Research Administrative Services to approve Research Lab timesheets.
Maintain projected and actual tracking of Research Lab invoices. Conduct quarterly invoicing of all grant and MOU work; maintain tracking of invoices with Research Administrative Services. Collaborate with the Director of Business Affairs to deposit payments into the proper accounts. Keep receipts of all MOU payments. Hold WSU purchasing card and TravelWayne card for any CSWR projects; maintain tracking of purchases. Function as account administrator for internal project management/research tools (Trello, Timecamp, Canva, Qualtrics, Zotero, etc.).
Research Dissemination and Capacity Building
Assist Director of Operations with Research Discussion, marketing/announcements, and updating templates for federal grants (with website).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Master's degree
Master’s degree in social work from an accredited college or University.
State of Michigan licensure and certification in social work.
Experience Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)
Experience in the development and implementation of new or innovative programs is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of social work, research methods, and statistical analysis.
Technical skills: Proficient with computer software for project management (Trello and TimeCamp), statistical analysis (such as SPSS), and data extraction/display (such as Excel, Powerpoint, Canva, PowerBI)
Organizational skills: Demonstrated experience developing, communicating, and managing projects, budgets, and goals. Strong project management skills.
Communication skills: Must possess effective professional written and verbal skills and can effectively communicate information to a wide variety of stakeholders, including community members, SW students, and SW faculty members.
Supervisory skills: Ability to lead and manage a team.
