Description Purpose of Position:
The Buyer is responsible for driving category performance and supporting merchandise strategy for the Seasonal Hunt and Pet categories. This role partners closely with Planning, Marketing, and Supply Chain to execute category plans, manage vendor relationships, and meet sales, margin, and inventory targets. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in retail buying.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Support and execute assortment strategy to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turn goals
+ Analyze category performance and apply insights to adjust product mix and buying strategy
+ Stay current on market trends, seasonal shifts, and customer demand in hunt and pet products
+ Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotions with vendors and manage vendor relationships
+ Collaborate cross-functionally on promotions, signage, and merchandising strategies
+ Contribute to seasonal planning, item setup, purchase orders, and inventory flow
+ Maintain accurate product and vendor data across internal systems
+ Serve as a category advocate across internal teams, ensuring alignment and timely execution
Requirements Qualifications:
+ 2–4 years of corporate buying, merchandising, or inventory planning experience
+ Strong analytical skills and understanding of retail math
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
+ Excellent communication and organizational skills
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
+ Familiarity with retail ERP and reporting systems
Preferred:
+ Experience with seasonal or outdoor categories (e.g., hunting gear)
+ Experience with pet products and understanding of pet consumer trends
+ Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or other analytical tools is a plus
Education/Experience:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred
+ 2–4 years of relevant professional experience

+ None
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
+ Moderately active office role with frequent sitting, occasional walking or standing
+ Regular use of computer and phone systems
+ Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally, typically for sample handling
+ Moderate noise level (office environment)
Travel Requirements:
+ Occasional travel up to 25% for vendor meetings, trade shows, or store visits
