RGE
Support RGE Emission Testing on site at Chelsea Proving Grounds, CTC labs, and local suppliers if needed
Prepare vehicles to be ready for testing and Deprep vehicles when testing is complete
Work with the MA team to prioritize the RGE/RGB vehicles running in cases where there are more vehicles than dynos
- D&E
• Verifying engine torque accuracy and drivability objectives, including ADAS interactions
• Calibrating engine mapping (pedal mappings), BVMP/BVA gear changes, shift laws, and anti-stalls
• Optimizing take-off, transient calibration in fixed gear, and shift patterns (Normal, ECO, Sport, CC, ACC modes)
• Calibrating emissions standards, ECO mode, city legal standards, slope, thermal protection, snow/winter driving, ESP, Manual/Automatic modes, lock-up/slip control, neutral control, dynamic functions (cornering, fast off), torque converter scheduling, and hot/altitude corrections
- Trans Cal
• Calibrating gear changes
• Calibrating torque blending, gearbox self-adaptive devices, torque bypass, anti-overspeed, temperature patches, drag reduction, turbine torque recovery function, and calibration safety
• Validating engine/PWT behavior during gear shifts, PWT in Lock-up phases, intra-PWT exchanges, and engine software at each project phase
• Approving gear ratio changes and gearbox brio
- Base Cal
• Calibration and Validation of Core Engine functions supporting BSG, PHEV, ICE variants.
• Knowledge of Air-flow Estimation, Emissions Calibration, Torque Estimation, Thermal Model Calibration, Engine Rating…etc Aspects of core engine calibration.
• Create and complete test plans in accordance with the calibration processes.
• Post-processing test data supporting robust calibration development per Calibration Maturity achievements.
• Collaborate with rest of the Calibration, Propulsion System teams, participating/supporting calibration development trips.
• Create, perform, adjust test plans with suppliers and other collaborators to resolve engineering challenges ensuring Functional Objectives are satisfied.
• Support ECM SW Validation efforts on HIL, engine dynamometer, vehicle. Support tracking, customer concern and closure of identified SW issues!
- Cal Methods/Verification
• Development of new development methodologies that meet either to new functions or to generate efficiency or quality on tests.
• Support and training of the development teams in the roll-out of new methodologies.
• Facilitating feedback between various development teams and the design teams
• Identifying needs for further development
• Specification of the needs in analysis tools associated with new methodologies.
- OBD
• Calibrate the diagnostic to ensure failure mode detection while at the same time minimizes the risk of false pass and false fail.
• Validate the diagnostic software strategy shorted high, shorted low, open circuit, rationality, functionality, for LV1 and LV2.
• Write software change requests to improve diagnostic strategies or reduce warranty as necessary.
• Support VRT Engineer to resolve issues related to Torque Security diagnostic performance in vehicle testing.
• Support VRT engineer as needed in the development of new test procedures for fully electrical vehicles.
• Perform DTC validation and confirm the correct vehicle reaction and limp home occurs to insure the vehicle behaves in a safe manner.
- xHEV Cal
• Validation and development of functions associated with powertrain which require creating test reports and feedback at the end of each phase.
• Calibration delivery and preparation of calibration maturity at program milestones in accordance with the process.
Your role
Basic qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
• Knowledge of Fundamentals of Internal Combustion Engines, Core Engine Calibration, Controls Algorithm validation.
• Experience managing engine dynamometer or a similar test property.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with good leadership qualities to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
• Excellent analytical skills with proven ability to conduct thorough engineering analysis.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate engineering progress and raise any potential technical or timing risks.
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of the software: MS Ofiice Programs, Mathworks/MatLab or DC Plot,
• High level of proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
• Familiarity with the Automobile and tools used to interrogate the on-board systems (engine control module, trans control module, etc.)
• Always eager to learn and improve.
• Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
Preferred qualifications:
• Powertrain Systems Engineering experience developing Engine HW, Controls/SW, Calibration.
• Experience solving engine dynamometer and test cell instrumentation.
• Drivability and Emissions calibration, Hybrid Powertrain calibration experience.
• Knowledge of INCA/AVL CRETA or similar calibration management tools.
• Knowledge of advanced data processing tools such as MATLAB Simulink
• Knowledge of Controls, Software development and HIL validation methodology.
• Knowledge of the engine and vehicle environment
• Knowledge of the battery and vehicle environment
