+ 1.Teaches all elementary subjects as mandated by the New York State Education Department.

+ 2. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials.

+ 3. Implements lesson plans and utilizes instruction time to effect optimal learning conditions.

+ 4. Establishes effective rapport with students.

+ 5. Motivates students to develop skills, attributes, and knowledge necessary for future educational endeavors.

+ 6. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

+ 7. Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.

+ 8. Establishes effective communication with parents through conferences and other appropriate channels to discuss students' progress.

+ 9. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

+ 10. Maintains professional competence through in-service programs provided by the District and self-selected professional growth activities.

+ 11. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

+ 12. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.

+ 13. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

+ 14. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the District testing program.

+ 15. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.

+ 16. Participates in faculty committees.

+ 17. Assumes any other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
