Job Description:
We are searching for the best talent for a **Design Engineer, Robotics Hardware** to be _located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL OR Warsaw, IN_ . This role will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule.
**Purpose** : As a **Design Engineer,** you will work directly with a team of experienced engineers to design and validate next generation navigation and robotic platforms used within the medical device space. You will be responsible for the design and development, and execution of robotic hardware designs, with a special focus on single use and reusable instrument design. MedTech Orthopedics is seeking a highly motivated individual that is a self-starter and is passionate about designing elegant, integrated solutions for advanced, complex clinical robotic systems.
You will be responsible for** **:
+ Makes final drawings and design layouts using sophisticated software and computer aided design (CAD) equipment.
+ Checks and validates dimensions of parts in the relation of one part to another, and the relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
+ Presents finished designs and works with multi-disciplinary teams.
+ Designs major components or major portions of instrument systems to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
+ Makes standard and nonstandard adjustments as necessary or desired.
+ Uses in-depth knowledge of various mechanisms, drafting practices, and mathematics to complete drawings.
+ Supports engineering analysis like finite element analysis, and other engineering calculation tools to prove sizing, materials, and specifications prior to machine fabrication.
+ Prepares complex three-dimensional designs and models.
+ Provides advanced design and technical engineering expertise and solutions for mechanical and mechanical process interaction issues.
+ Makes layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices and mechanisms.
+ Participates in and occasionally leads product development teams and/or multi-functional teams. Designs innovative new products.
+ Draws complex finished designs from sketches, redlined drawings or from oral engineering presentations.
+ Conceptualizes ideas and understands inadequacies of designs.
+ Comes up with possible solutions to design problems.
+ Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
+ Ability to perform tolerance analysis using various techniques to ensure design robustness.
Qualifications / Requirements** **:
+ Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering **required** ; Mechanical Engineering _strongly preferred_ .
+ At least 3-5 years of demonstrated Engineering experience in a highly regulated industry (Aerospace, Automotive, etc) **required** ; Medical Device Engineering experience _strongly preferred_ .
+ Relevant experience working with multi-disciplinary product development teams and external partners **required** .
+ Ability to apply theoretical technical principles to product design.
+ Demonstrated understanding of various manufacturing processes, mechanisms, materials, proper tolerancing, drafting standards, and GD&T (intermediate level).
+ Ability to effectively communicate critical design/project information to internal and external customers.
+ Ability to work and manage priorities on multiple tasks and guide or mentor others.
+ Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication also with local as well as international peers.
+ Demonstrated project execution from start to bringing to market.
+ 10-20% travel, including internationally.
+ Experience with the any of following software applications is **highly desired** :
+ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Tools: PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter 10 or newer, or similar.
+ CAD Tools: SolidWorks, Siemens NX 10 or newer, or similar.
+ Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, Word, etc.
+ Highly effective oral and written communication skills (with strong interpersonal and critical-thinking skills), including the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
+ Excellent communication and interaction skills, especially when describing technical concepts to surgeons, sales personnel, and senior management.
+ Highly recognized as experienced and professional engineer by peers.
+ Well organized, self-motivated, energetic, creative, resourceful, insightful, personable, and articulate.
+ Must possess strong leadership and collaboration qualities.
Preferences/Assets:
+ Orthopedics Engineering experience.
+ Relevant experience with medical metal coatings and plastic injection molding.
+ Experience with optics and digital imaging.
+ Experience with robotics systems development for medical devices development.
+ Understanding of FDA QSR/ISO9000 design control regulations and the impact to projects for meeting FDA/Company guidelines and policies.
+ Design Excellence or Six Sigma Blackbelt or equivalent experience
+ Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.
