Job Description
An Environmental Designer is responsible for delivering designs and/or design concepts for a specific project, customer base, department, brand, fashion show or event. Supports and collaborates with VM Leadership, VM Graphic Designers, VM Engineers, Project Managers, VM Digital, Brand Creative and Event Marketing, to conceptualize and present designs meant to support strategies for business growth to fuel sales.
The VM Environmental Designer is proficient in current industry standards/trends and maintains and supports Nordstrom Brand standards, store environments and digital assets .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Design, develop, iterate and execute design concepts to support VM, merchandising, events and special projects.
+ Create proposal decks and clearly communicate design intent and project tracking throughout the life of the project with Leadership/requestor, Engineers, Graphic Designers, Planners and Store teams.
+ Has a strong understanding of design concepts within a 3-dimensional space and how it supports the overall design brief or request.
+ Produce designs and drawings to support planning and rollout of new concepts.
+ Create Vendor proposals, vendor specifications, production files and material specifications for bidding and execution.
+ Understand production methods and materials best suited for large scale 3-dimensional projects.
+ Review, approve and/or correct prototypes and commit to the process and timing outlined within the working group and/or vendor.
+ Communicate and collaborate with all partners on design intent, application of visual designs, quantities, methods of execution and other criteria to ensure the proper application of designs.
+ Design within budget constraints for each project and works with VM Engineers to make decisions that best support the initial goal of the project while maintaining visual standards.
+ Manage and track timeline with regards to final deliverables, goals, and to meet production schedules.
+ Collaborate with VM Merchandising, VM Engineering, Marketing and Brands to determine materials, and review quality & costs for all projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years' experience in related field or equivalent experience in design.
+ Demonstrated understanding of retail and the service environment of Nordstrom
+ Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
+ Able to think and communicate in 2D and 3D design models
+ Full proficiency in Illustrator, In Design, Sketch up and cad.
+ Knowledge of NDC and VM specifications and material resources.
+ Retail merchandising or retail design background preferred.

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
New York: $74,000- $119,000 annually
