    Breaking Ground operates nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, along with housing in upstate New York and Connecticut. Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.

     

    But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.

     

    Reporting to the Program Director, the Assistant Director, Programs, Tenant Success Services provide s supervisory oversight to the Tenant Success Services program . Using a Critical Time Intervention (CTI)-informed model, the Assistant Program Director supervises a growing team of Clinical Coordinators, Program Coordinators, and Housing Retention Specialists. The Tenant Success Services program provides time-limited services focused on housing retention, resource development, and community integration with the goal of helping formerly homeless individuals and families develop the skills, tools and resources needed to sustain long term housing retention and prevent eviction. These services are provided to individuals and families exiting the shelter system and moving into ap artmen ts in new developmen ts loca ted throughout Brooklyn and Queens.

     

    The Assistant Program Director ensur es that service provision is of the highest quality and is consistent with CTI-informed principles. The Assistant Program Director liaises with community stakeholders, funders, property management, and real estate development companies .

     

    This position's hours are generally 9 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday. The position will be fully in-person and wil l provide services and supervision of staff placed at various program sites across Brooklyn and Queens.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Provide direction and leadership to the program; help troubleshoot, problem solve, and strategize solutions around client engagement and challenging behaviors

    + Offer support, training, and quality control for intake processes, initial assessments, and the reassessment of participants, as well as closing cases as necessary and as per guidelines

    + Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching of new staff

    + Travel between sites to attend meetings and provide supervision

    + Produce outcomes reports based on services pr ovided a s well as track program participants entry and exit and mo nitor f or accuracy

    + Manage caseload assignments and conduct case reviews with staff

    + Pro vide t raining to staff on Critical Time Intervention model

    + Oversee development and implementation of individual service plans; ensure documentation of client contact and progress is comprehensive and timely

    + Supervise and conduct case conferences

    + Coordinate delivery of care with multiple service providers

    + Work collaboratively with property management teams as needed to ensure clients succeed in housing and avoid return to homelessness

    + Provide support and guidance to front line staff in managing difficult situations and successfully de-escalating conflict

    + Provide support and guidance to direct reports when navigating various systems, including HRA, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, etc.

    + As sist i n the development of evidence-based groups, social programming and other events for tenants

    + Perform other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Master's degree in Social Work and an active LMSW license is required . Must obtain LMSW within first six months of employment. LCSW preferred

    + 3 years of experience working with populations who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness

    + Previous supervisory experience and strong clinical and assessment skills preferred

    + Familiarity with Critical Time Intervention principles preferred

    + Superb collaborative skills, ability to work successfully with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

    + Creativity, strong problem-solving skills

    + Demonstrated ability to work across multiple program locations while managing frequent competing demands

    + Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with diverse populations and stakeholders

    + Ability to travel throughout the boroughs via public transportation or vehicle

    + Valid NY, NJ, CT, or PA driver’s license with a good driving record, as defined by Breaking Ground is preferred

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams

    + Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
