Position Description:
This position is responsible for the planning and organizing of work of journeyman in an in Facilities Support Services, Special Systems Department, where you will oversee the fire alarm and sprinkler systems, locksmith duties, the evelopment of material and labor estimates for proposed work, as well as the assigned trade shop budget, inventories, procedures and policies. Work is primarily evaluated for effective use of resources, accomplishment of assigned projects, and adherence to trade standards

Major/Essential Functions:
+ Provides leadership to maintain, troubleshoot and install, inspect, test and maintain life safety systems (fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and elevators). Oversees installation, modification and repairs new and existing fire sprinkler systems, and fire alarm system
+ Install and maintain locks, doors, door hardware, handles, automatic doors and related equipment on campus
+ Responsible for maintaining and the administration of the Institution's key systems and related equipment
+ Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems (Fire Alarm, and Sprinkler Systems)
+ Prepare and submit work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc.
+ Performs all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment
+ Contributes with knowledge and skilled labor to construction and renovation projects of the institution
+ Coordinates and assists with the coordination of construction and external service work internally or by others
+ Services complex to difficult fire alarm system containing, annunciation, monitoring of devices, such as smoke detectors, fire sprinklers and fire alarm pull boxes. Oversees installation of new or existing pull stations, flow switches, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and tamper switches
+ Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working conditions. Responds to emergency calls to correct or remediate the problem
+ Performs other related and various job duties as assigned including but not limited to pest control
+ Actively participates and completes training, personal development and continuing education
+ Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Drivers License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check
+ Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes

Required Qualifications:
+ Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent
+ Three years experience as a licensed journeyman in the assigned trade; or six years experience in designated trade
+ Job-related vocational training and other education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis
+ Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of the assigned trade
