**Shift** : Days variable 8-hour shift:
0700-1530 or 0730-4:00 or 8:00-4:30 or 8:30-5:00

The role you’ll contribute:
The Lead Radiation Therapist will be required to perform the duties of a radiation therapist and administer targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. They will accomplish the administration of targeted doses of radiation in a safe, effective, efficient, legal and professional manner. They will assist in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculate actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection. In conjunction with the manager, the Lead Radiation Therapist will provide leadership and guidance in identification, analysis, and resolution of clinical and programmatic problems. They must have the ability to resolve process problems among team members. The Lead Radiation Therapist will support the manager in many complex projects and have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

+ Provides supervision and direction to staff and effectively communicates with manager regarding staff performance issues or changes to protocols

+ Acts as a point person for peers to provide guidance and direction in real-time clinical and team decisions.
+ Department Patient Satisfaction Champion.Leads by example and provides staff coaching. Treats all staff fair and equitably.
+ Works in collaboration with the Clinical Manager and assists in the annual job evaluation process within modality.
+ Assists with onboarding and training of new staff.
+ Assists staff with procurement of equipment and supplies.
+ Continually evaluates existing processes and workflow for ongoing process improvement.
+ Works with staff on AQ, QI and CQI.
+ Oversees equipment quality control.
+ Maintains JCAHO, OSHA, NCR EPA and State standards always.
+ Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decisions and works with department leaders to action.
+ Acts as a resource/liaison for the manager, physician, and physicist in decision making process.
+ Provides back-up to the manager in conducting weekly team huddles
+ Follows SMMC standards of behavior.
+ Provides back up to the manager in coordination of care for surgical patients and delegates appropriately.
+ Provides backup to the manager for department charge reconciliation and staff scheduling
+ Performs other related duties as required and deemed necessary per manager/director.
+ Supports unit and organizational Process and Quality Improvement and participates as assigned.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Qualifications required:
+ Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
+ 3 plus years of Radiation Therapy experience
+ Kansas LRT State License
+ American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
+ BLS Certification
Qualifications preferred:
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ 1 plus years of Lead Position Experience
