    Position Summary

    To weld all ferrous and non-ferrous metals using GMAW, GTAW, Soldering and Brazing for the purpose of manufacturing STERIS® product.

    Duties

    + Set-up and operate welding equipment (GMAW, GTAW, Brazing, Soldering and Stud Welding) using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable tolerances and standards.

    + Ability to build weldments through manual layout process, when required.

    + Read and interpret STERIS® welding blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including standard welding symbols, travelers, and other working documents.

    + Use required measuring instruments and gages to check and ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.

    + Communicate clearly, both verbally and written, with Engineers, Quality personnel, supervisors, and fellow team employees.

    + Complete all projects, assignments, and duties as directed and instructed by the area supervisor.

    + Take responsibility for the quality of all parts by inspecting and immediately reporting any problems, discrepancies/or irregularities to the supervisor.

    + Follow 5S methodology to keep machines and work area clean, neat and orderly on a daily basis.

    + Assist in training other employees in the welding department.

    + Remain safety conscious at all times, wearing all prescribed personal protective equipment and by observing all safety rules stated in the Employee Handbook.

    + Complete any and all projects, assignments and duties as directed and instructed.

    + Conform to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Employee Handbook, Bulletin Boards, Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by STERIS Management.

    + Ability to perform duties with minimal or no supervision if needed.

    Education Degree

    + High School Diploma or GED

    Required Experience

    + Minimum two years experience ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

    + Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the leadership team.

    + Assist with training other operators.

    + Ability to make decisions and stay quality focused.

    + Ability to understand and follow work instructions, both written and oral.

    + Ability to adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements.

    + Ability to work with others.

    + Willingness to work overtime, if required.

     

    Skills

     

    + Must be able to satisfy AMSE welder performance qualification testing in both GMAW and GTAW welding of stainless, mild steel, and aluminum.

    + Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols.

    + Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages.

    + Must be capable of lifting 40 pounds without assistance.
