    Job Description

    **Department** : Manufacturing

    **Reports To:** Operations Manager

    **FLSA Status:** Non-Exempt (hourly)

    **Date:** April 2024

    Summary:

    Custom Truck One Source has an opening for a Leadman with background in fabrication. The Leadman will be responsible for communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to a team. To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to motivate team members, provide help on training and development needs, and monitor team performance. The Leadman will be responsible for creating and maintaining an efficient and profitable fabrication department. The ideal candidate will be able to take the customers weldment request and identify the most efficient process to create the finished product with standard metal fabrication equipment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Create and enforce a safe working environment.

    + Identify ways to improve safety, quality, and productivity in the fabrication process.

    + Communicate with parts and production team to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and overall profitability.

    + Understand build priorities and parts dates and efficiently allocate time spent on manufacturing orders.

    + Study blueprints of fabrication parts.

    + Cut, bend, punch, shape and weld metal to create the needed part which may include anything from a bracket or bumper to an outrigger sub frame and larger.

    + Conduct morning meetings to discuss production schedules and deadlines as well as activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation.

    + Communicate and monitor employees in the fabrication department, assign tasks to employees, and verify that the job is being done correctly.

    + Provide technical assistance to fabrication department employees.

    + Monitor hours on jobs to ensure we are hitting quoted build times.

    + Work with parts to verify all necessary components are applied to the repair order.

    + Responsible for employee training and development, hiring new fabricators, payroll, monitoring employee performance, and maintaining shop and equipment.

    + Direct fabricators in their function and make plans for their future training and development.

    + Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

    + Provide quality control guidance.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    + Associates degree or other relevant college degree

    + Non-Degreed: 3 years proven experience in a similar role

    + Knowledge of heavy and light duty trucks and equipment

    + Valid Driver’s License required

    + Extremely detail oriented and accurate

    + Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

    + Mechanical aptitude.

    + Setting priorities and adapting to changing work priorities.

    + Must be self-sufficient and driven.

    + Meeting deadlines and schedules.

    + Strong attendance record

    + Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical and audiogram

    + General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts required. Knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and/or farm equipment preferred.

    + General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to process orders. Knowledge of inventory software (FishBowl, etc.)

    + Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    + This job requires "people" skills and a genuine desire to service the client. A positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor with clients and team members is essential to this position

    + The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary in order to meet business demands

    + Ability to see things in close proximity whether through natural or corrected vision

    + Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

    + Talk to others to convey information effectively

    + Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

    + Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

    + Monitor/Assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action

    + Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

    + Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

    + General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts required. Knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and/or farm equipment preferred.

    + General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to process orders. Knowledge of inventory software (FishBowl, etc.) to process purchase orders and tracking inventory helpful.

    Working Conditions:

    + Majority of work performed in shop

    + May be exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes

    Physical Requirements:

    + The ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs

    + Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
