FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at CUNY is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Economics and business courses for the following semester sessions:
+ 2025 Fall Term - Session I: September 9 to December 19, 2025
+ 2025 Fall Term - Session II: January 5 to February 26, 2026
+ 2026 Spring Term - Session I: March 4 to June 16, 2026
We are looking for candidates with availability to teach courses during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, and in multiple modalities including in-person and hybrid formats. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use effective pedagogical and technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students.
Adjunct faculty will be responsible for teaching and providing guidance related to the following courses:
Course Information:
ECON 201 (Credits: 3, Hours: 3): Macroeconomics This course will introduce students to the overall workings of a national economy. It will apply macroeconomic theory and principles to current economic issues at the national and international levels and examine their relationship to the economy of New York City, a center of international business. The course will cover a broad range of topics including money and the monetary system, income and expenditure, the role of fiscal and monetary policies in stabilizing the economy, the relationship between inflation and unemployment, and the role of government policy in promoting long-term economic growth. Students will be introduced to the methods economists use in economic analysis and research.
ECON 203 (Credits: 3, Hours: 3): Microeconomics individual economic choices. Topics include consumer theory, producer theory, behavior of firms, market equilibrium, competition, international trade and the role of governments in the economy. Students will be introduced to methods economists use in economic analysis and research. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to relate issues in economics to their own lives and the operations of businesses of different sizes and structures.
BUSI 102 (Credits: 3, Hours: 3): Introduction to Business. This course offers a broad survey of business within the U.S. economic framework. It explores interrelationships between business, government and labor; elements of business organization; the functions of management, marketing, finance, production, globalization, and the role of business organizations in contemporary society in a socially responsible way. The course uses different types of businesses that are represented in New York City to illustrate the concepts taught in the classroom. Throughout the semester students will research one publicly traded company; part of the grade will be based on a portfolio that profiles that company and correlates to the relevant topics discussed in class.

QUALIFICATIONS
For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Adjunct Associate Professor, or Adjunct Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer:
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Adjunct Lecturer: Master’s degree in economics.
For all ranks:
Experience teaching economic courses in higher education, preferably at community colleges. Demonstrated ability in most of the following:
- Teaching students of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic and educational backgrounds
- Active, student-centered pedagogy and significant student mentoring experience
Use effective technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students, including, but not limited to, the use of Brightspace and Navigate360
COMPENSATION
• Adjunct Lecturer: $97.25 per hour
• Adjunct Assistant Professor: $106.09 per hour
• Adjunct Associate Professor: $114.93 per hour
• Adjunct Professor: $119.35 per hour
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
