The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. Position Overview
The Group Sales Manager, you are responsible for representing the hotel in the development of market segment(s) and new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts while consistently striving to maximize revenue in rooms, public space, food and beverage and ancillary products and services. Marriott experience is preferred but not necessary.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Represent the hotel in the development of market segment(s) and new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts while consistently striving to maximize revenue in rooms, public space, food and beverage and ancillary products and services,
Actively up-sell each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
Understand the overall market – competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and how to sell against them.
Engage in outside sales activities to discuss business opportunities and entertain customers in local and assigned markets (percentage of travel dependent on specific market). Direct site visits for respective accounts and participates in tradeshows, industry and customer events.
Conduct site inspections, familiarization trips and other related functions to develop potential group business visiting guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities, as well as other hotel facilities.
Entertain all group contacts while on property and in the market place. Sales managers' may be required to entertain outside of normal office hours.
Communicate all developments in your specific marketplace to the DOSM/ADOS and generate promotional ideas as well as activities in your specific market.
Ensure that business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery as well as detailing of a small portion of groups.
Respond in a timely manner to incoming group/catering opportunities that are within pre-defined parameters. Refer opportunities to appropriate sales associate if business is outside these parameters.
Promote accountability to drive superior business results. Includes successful execution of Sales strategies and business processes.
Initiate the preparation of proposals and/or contracts to advise prospective customers primarily of the hotel guest rooms, but also meeting space and/or banquet date, space and rate availability. Develop and quote prices for same.
Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence). Transfer accurate, complete, and timely information to the Events department in accordance with hotel and brand standards.
Responsible for driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
Work collaboratively with other sales channels (e.g. on-property resources) to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
Extensive travel to all national markets based on the direction of the promotional plan.
Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meetings to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group-pick up, etc.
Maintain the highest ethical standards while representing Hotel Paradox.
Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
At least two (2) years experience as a Sales Manager, preferred
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Hotel Management, Business Administration, Marketing or Communications, preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Multi-tasking skills
Experience CI/TY, preferred
Ability to travel 2-4 times per year

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a commercial setting with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise, people, and equipment.
Able to work independently or as a team member and support managers with special projects.
