    Summary:

    This role performs technical and logistical tasks in a high-volume data center setting. Responsibilities include equipment monitoring, inventory control, shipment handling, and secure data destruction. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring systems run efficiently and compliance protocols are maintained. A background in IT operations, warehouse/inventory management, and prior data center experience is essential.

     

    **Our client, a leader in the technology and data infrastructure industry, is seeking a Data Center Technician to join their team.** As a Data Center Technician, you will be part of the IT Operations Department supporting Field-IT and DIAT teams. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently, which will align successfully in the organization.

    **Job Title:** Data Center Technician

    **Location:** Sandston, VA

     

    Pay Range: $20/hr. -$23/hr.

    The **top 3 required skills** for this **Data Center Technician** role are:

    1. **Experience in a Data Center Environment** – Proven ability to work in data center operations, including handling hardware, following SOPs, and maintaining uptime standards.

    2. **Inventory and Asset Management** – Strong understanding of inventory control, shipping/receiving, and accurate physical tracking of equipment and assets.

    3. **Basic Technical Proficiency** – Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) and the ability to follow operating instructions for software and hardware systems.

    + Monitor software systems and data center equipment for performance issues or failures

    + Respond to program error messages, identify problems, and take corrective actions

    + Assist programmers and analysts with testing and debugging of new programs

    + Manage physical inventory, including receiving, staging, audits, and asset destruction

    + Perform shipping/receiving tasks and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

     

    What’s Needed?

     

    + High School Diploma AND 2+ years of experience in IT supply chain, inventory, retail, or data center environments

    + Prior experience working in a data center or technical operations setting

    + Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)

    + Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

    + Ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision in a high-volume environment
