Job Summary:
Director of Outreach and Enrollment InitiativesThe Director of Outreach and Enrollment Initiatives supports the College of Engineering’s mission to lead in water-related research and education. This position is responsible for developing strategic outreach and recruitment programs that attract and retain students interested in solving global water challenges. The director cultivates partnerships with schools, community organizations, and industry to promote awareness of water-focused engineering careers. Additionally, the role leads public education initiatives and events that highlight the college’s research in water sustainability, infrastructure, and technology. Working collaboratively across departments in the College of Engineering, the director ensures that outreach and enrollment efforts align with the college’s commitment to innovation, access, and impact in water-focused engineering.
Work Performed:
+ Design and implement strategic outreach programs that engage prospective students, schools, and community stakeholders, with a focus on water-related engineering careers.
+ Lead the development of recruitment campaigns and materials that promote the College’s academic programs, research strengths, and career opportunities in water sustainability, infrastructure, and technology.
+ Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with K-12 schools, community colleges, industry leaders, and community organizations to expand the College’s visibility and pipeline of water-focused students.
+ Coordinate and manage public education events, workshops, and seminars that showcase the College’s leadership in water research and engineering innovation.
+ Oversee enrollment initiatives that support the recruitment, retention, and success of students pursuing degrees in water-related fields.
+ Collaborate closely with faculty, research centers, admissions, and marketing teams to align outreach strategies with the College’s mission and enrollment goals.
+ Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach and recruitment programs, using data to inform improvements and measure impact.
+ Represent the College of Engineering at conferences, community events, and recruitment fairs, ensuring consistent messaging and relationship-building with key audiences.
Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, industrial design, computer science, mathematics or a related field.
+ Master’s degree in engineering, water resources, education, public relations, or related fields.
+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in outreach, recruitment, or public engagement within an educational, nonprofit, or engineering-related setting.
+ Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate outreach and recruitment programs.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking, writing, and presenting to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in STEM education, engineering outreach, or workforce development with an emphasis on water sustainability and infrastructure.
+ Knowledge of higher education enrollment management, marketing strategies, and student retention best practices.
+ Experience working with underrepresented populations in STEM fields, including Hispanic, rural, and first-generation college students.
+ Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments, institutions, and community partners.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual engagement platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
