    The P/T Program Specialist promotes student success by engaging with prospective and current students, building relationships with campus and community partners, and providing information and support to help students navigate testing accommodation processes along their educational journey. The Program Specialist will work collaboratively with Accessibility Counselors to help in scheduling student testing appointments, conducting follow-up outreach to specific student groups and faculty, and representing the Office of Accessibility Services at various campus events. The Program Specialist will also build relationships with faculty and staff to provide timely support of additional services. Additionally, the Program Specialist adheres to and keeps current with ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable best practices, laws, and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities in higher education.

     

    + Provides assistance to students and supports them in scheduling test room bookings for all exams.

    + Monitors the submission of exams and conducts timely follow-up with faculty as needed.

    + Assists Accessibility Counselors with follow-up emails and phone calls to caseload students for timely semester requests and testing appointments.

    + Provides assistance to new students navigating the intake process, scheduling appointments with Counselors, and support services.

    + Assists with the planning of testing workshops and the understanding of testing accommodations and protocols in our Testing Center.

    + Helps to coordinate and provide training for testing proctors.

    + Helps gather feedback from students to improve services and programs.

    + Assists students on policies to request accommodations, and advocates for students as needed.

    + Collaborates with staff, faculty and administrators to ensure provision of reasonable accommodations.

    + Maintain accurate case files and required data for reporting system(s) to ensure student progress is documented and compliant with applicable regulations.

    + Submits accurate and timely reports.

    + Adheres to and keeps current with ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable best practices, laws, and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities in higher education.

    + Participates in departmental and College meetings.

    + Participates in professional learning programs.

    + Contributes to the assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Accessibility Services.

    + May perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the field of education, educational administration, recruitment and/or training, or in the analysis of program operations, marketing or customer services. The satisfactory completion of 30 credits towards a Master's degree may be substituted for each year of experience.

     

    All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice. Effective oral and written communication skills are required.

     

    The position requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. Routine use of educational technologies such as Accommodate, Brightspace, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Degree Works, and Starfish are a requirement of this position.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with delivering support to students with learning disabilities is preferred, including strong writing and advocacy skills. Bilingual verbal and written fluency is also strongly preferred.

    Additional Information:

    POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.

     

    WORK SCHEDULE: This is an on campus, part-time position, working 28 hours per week.

     

    HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $34.60/hour. No benefits. This position is fully grant funded.
