About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, VP to join the legal team supporting Government Relations and Public Policy team within the Public Affairs Section of the Public, Regulatory, and Corporate Affairs Division of the Wells Fargo Legal Department.
This Assistant General Counsel, VP will support public affairs activities, including the coordination of Legal Department efforts on advocacy on proposed laws and regulations impacting multiple business groups and/or enterprise functions, political law topics, including, PACs, corporate political activities, trade association political activities, pay-to-play at the federal and state levels, lobbying laws, and gifts and entertainment, and preparing briefings on developments for senior Legal Department leaders. This position may also provide legal advice and support for execution and control activities within Public Affairs. The successful candidate will join a team of professionals who are responsible for supporting the Government Relations function in Public Affairs. Such candidate will be able to easily interact and manage relationships with partners throughout the organization (including businesses, control partners, and risk partners) and external resources (including contract attorneys, trade associations or law firms).

In this role, you will:
+ Lead or participate in complex initiatives and deliverables and contribute to large-scale planning.
+ Handle matters that have a significant impact on the Company's operations, strategies, or profitability
+ Provide legal advice on matters for management of the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
+ Serve as a legal advisor to the businesses and enterprise functions within Wells Fargo
+ Review and analyze complex large scale or long-term challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
+ Draft complex legal documents, review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counsel.
+ Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions and make recommendations for issue resolution.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with partners across the Legal Department and the Company and influence timely advocacy of new and proposed legal or regulatory obligations.
+ Provide substantive legal advice on matters for more experienced management of the Corporation
+ Develop and lead implementation of strategic business initiatives, and lead work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
+ Educate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal department
+ Collaborate strategically with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
+ Lead projects, teams or serve as a peer mentor
+ Develop relationships with and provide guidance to more experienced leadership, including executive officers, on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the Company
+ Partner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs
Required Qualifications:
+ 5+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
+ Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
Desired Qualifications:
+ Political law experience, including relating to PACs, corporate political activities, trade association political activities, employee political activities, pay-to-play requirements at the federal, state, and local levels, lobbying laws, and gifts and entertainment, and preparing briefings on developments for senior Legal Department leaders.
+ Familiarity with enterprise risk management frameworks and functions and regulatory expectations for risk management at large banks and financial holding companies
+ Ability to analyze legal issues in substantive law in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters.
+ Strong ability to think independently and provide credible challenge.
+ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
Job Expectations:
+ Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
