    Description

    We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee all financial and accounting functions of our client's growing transportation and logistics company. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a small business environment and has industry experience managing the financial intricacies of transportation, freight, and logistics operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Oversee and manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.

    + Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

    + Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities.

    + Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state/local tax requirements, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., DOT, IFTA).

    + Process payroll or oversee payroll processing, including relevant reporting and filings.

    + Coordinate audits, reviews, and tax filings with external accountants or auditors.

    + Maintain accounting systems and recommend improvements for efficiency and scalability.

    + Track and analyze key financial metrics related to fleet operations, fuel usage, maintenance costs, and profitability per load or route.

    + Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to align financial data with logistical activities.

    + Manage insurance, licensing, and asset tracking for company vehicles and equipment.

    + Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    + Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including 2+ years in a transportation or logistics environment.

    + Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks

    + Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.

    + Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    + Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
