Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. In this Contract-to-Permanent role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of medical billing processes. This position requires a strong understanding of insurance claims, payment posting, and contractual agreements, along with the ability to manage accounts with precision.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and submit insurance claims or bills directly to patients in compliance with insurance guidelines.
• Verify payment accuracy against contractual agreements and promptly report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Adjust account balances to reflect insurance allowances, write-offs, or discounts in accordance with departmental policies.
• Document and escalate insurance payment denials to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Reconcile account deposits and ensure they are submitted to the bank according to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of all billing activities, including specialized terminology for third-party payers.
• Stay updated on insurance billing requirements and report any inconsistencies or changes to the supervisor.
• Complete assigned tasks and special projects efficiently with minimal supervision, meeting departmental deadlines.
• Forward necessary documentation to payers, attorneys, or auditors as required, following organizational policies.
Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing or accounts receivable, with a strong understanding of billing functions and insurance claims.
• Familiarity with appeals processes and benefit administration.
• Ability to accurately interpret and apply insurance contracts and payment agreements.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure quality and timely work.
• Proficiency in handling claims and ensuring compliance with payer requirements.
• Excellent communication skills to document activities and report variances effectively.
• Ability to adapt to evolving departmental needs and take on new billing responsibilities as required.
• Competence in maintaining both digital and paper files in an organized manner.
