Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. In association with Aviagen Turkeys, Select Genetics is the nation’s leader in turkey breeding and hatching.
We are searching for an exceptional Staff Veterinarian to join our turkey breeder operations in Willmar, MN as a full-time member of our technical team.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Support the breeder and hatchery operations managers by providing superior veterinary and diagnostics laboratory services and display a passion for working with live animals;
+ Work with Select Genetics and affiliated companies to develop products and procedures to enhance profitability to include design, participate and oversee various applied research trials in production and in controlled research settings.
+ Prepare and communicate complex issues verbally or written in the form of data summaries, reports, or analyses that include charts and graphs to document research findings and results;
+ Provide superior internal and external customer support by providing consultation, communicating proactively, and demonstrating commitment to high quality service for internal and external customers;
+ Follow, maintain, and ensure compliance of all of the company’s rules and regulations pertaining to biosecurity, animal welfare and safety to include training employees on technical practices and protocols;
+ Work productively in a team environment and be willing to help in any area deemed necessary for positive results and use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
+ Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations through self-directed effective time management;
+ Work with a variety of technical tools and equipment and effectively prepare biological samples for testing or analysis;
+ Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs or more;
+ Perform the duties of the job while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting heavy objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals and fumes.
Requirements:
+ DVM degree from an AVMA accredited college and be eligible for licensure in Minnesota.
+ Ability to successfully handle multiple demands simultaneously is required.
+ Strong time management and organizational skills is required.
+ A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record required.
+ Successful completion of criminal background check is required.
+ Ability to travel 25% of the time is required.
+ Prior experience in the poultry industry is preferred.
+ Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills a plus.
Compensation Package: We offer a complete and comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, telehealth, 401k, life insurance, short- and long-term disability plans, holidays, paid time off and more. This position is eligible for the company's annual incentive bonus program.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 based on experience.
