    JOB SUMMARY

    We are seeking a highly capable U.S. Tax Manager to oversee our federal and state income tax compliance and annual tax provision, while also managing indirect tax operations including sales & use and other transaction-based taxes. This role ensures accurate and timely compliance, manages audit risks, and supports broader business objectives with technical tax guidance and process improvement.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Direct Tax (Federal & State Income Tax)

     

    + Manage preparation and review of U.S. federal and state income tax returns, including consolidated and separate filings.

    + Manage the preparation of the annual tax provision under ASC 740, including documentation of assumptions, deferred tax analysis, and footnote disclosures.

    + Prepare U.S. Federal and State Return to Provision calculations.

    + Oversee estimated tax payments, extensions, and required elections.

    + Respond to and manage IRS and state income tax audits, including coordination of IDRs and documentation.

     

    Indirect Tax (Sales & Use, Other Transactional Taxes)

     

    + Manage compliance for sales & use tax, including registration, monthly filings, and exemption certificate management.

    + Ensure compliance with gross receipts, business license, and other indirect taxes.

    + Provide guidance on taxability of products/services, customer invoicing, and procurement-related transactions.

    + Support and enhance functionality of tax automation systems (e.g., Vertex, Avalara).

     

    Tax Strategy, Business Support & Planning

     

    + Analyze tax implications of business activities, contracts, and organizational changes.

    + Monitor federal and state legislative updates and assess their impact on the company’s tax position.

    + Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, legal, and operations teams on M&A, restructuring, and special projects.

     

    Audit & Controls

     

    + Support annual financial statement audit related to tax matters and provision documentation.

    + Maintain effective SOX-compliant tax processes and internal controls.

    + Lead responses to audits across both direct and indirect taxes, coordinating with advisors and authorities as needed.

     

    Process Improvement & Technology

     

    + Drive process improvements and automation to enhance compliance accuracy and efficiency.

    + Ensure accurate integration of tax data across ERP and tax reporting tools.

    CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

    Required Experience:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MST preferred.

    + 5+ years of combined U.S. direct and indirect tax experience, preferably in a multinational corporation or Big 4 environment.

    + Solid understanding of ASC 740 annual provision requirements.

    + Experience with U.S. federal, state and local tax compliance in a global structure.

    + Experience with indirect tax (sales & use tax)

    + Proficiency with indirect tax systems (e.g., Vertex, Avalara) and tax compliance software (e.g., Corptax, OneSource).

    + Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

    + Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

    Preferred Experience:

    + Experience supporting annual audits and working with external advisors.

    + Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.

    + Experience in tax technology and data automation tools (e.g. Onesource Tax Provision, Onesource Income Tax, Alteryx, etc.)
