Staff Veterinarian

Purpose & Scope: This position will have direct veterinary responsibility for multiple Pilgrim’s complexes, working with live management in all areas (pullets/breeders, hatchery, broiler grow out, and plant), satisfying regulatory health requirements, ensuring implementation and compliance with company programs, and contributing to the Pilgrim’s Veterinary Services team.

Principle Responsibilities:

+ Direct contact for bird health, animal welfare, and biosecurity in multiple Pilgrim’s complexes

+ Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance related to VFDs, Rx, NPIP and USDA health/export certificates

+ Training and education of live team personnel

+ Contribution to Pilgrim’s vet team efforts on group projects, trials, etc.

Travel:

+ Routine travel required to assigned complexes

+ Additional travel to live meetings, continuing education conferences, etc.

Required Qualifications:

+ DVM or equivalent

+ Post doctorate training program in poultry medicine preferred

+ ACPV diplomate preferred

+ Veterinary license and federal accreditation with ability to be licensed in multiple states preferred

+ Excellent communication skills

+ Microsoft Office suite competency
