    Communications Specialist

    The Communications Specialist oversees all communication throughout the District to include social media, website, and press activity for the District. This position is responsible for advancing the District’s vision and mission both internally and externally.

    Some of what you will do:

    + Establish annual strategic priorities to include comprehensive branded communications and marketing plan.

    + Serve as the information liaison between the school system and the community at large.

    + Coordinate internal and external communications in association with the Chief of Staff and school/district leaders.

    + Create and maintain sustainable and effective relationships with local news organizations.

    + Distribute media releases on a regularly established schedule or as needed.

    + Establish and maintain community partner relationships to enhance student and staff experiences.

    + Monitor external information sources to determine if a clarifying response is appropriate.

    + Create and post timely and relevant content onto the district website including news, events, new pages, district updates, and other appropriate information as needed.

    + Serve district leadership through media and website presence, advocating and supporting their programs.

    + Monitor Google Analytics and adjusts website content accordingly.

    + Create print and digital content and graphics for campaigns and requested school-specific communications.

    + Post to social media accounts per best practices and in accordance with HPS policy.

    + Partner with superintendent, district leadership, principals, and Board of Trustees to establish content to be sent to all district staff members on an established schedule.

    + Create engaging content for various digital and print platforms which include high quality video and photos.

    + Support and promote district initiatives.

    Who we are looking for:

    + Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a closely related field.

    + At least five (5) years’ experience in marketing, website development, blogs, social media management.
