SUMMARY
The Program Engineer works in the Strategic Engineering department in the Engineering Programs section. As a Program Engineer, this individual is responsible for the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of the assigned programs that promote equipment reliability and assure compliance with regulations and commitments. Programs Engineering involves ongoing engineering activities that implement regulatory requirements, industry commitments, and industry guidance that is applicable to STP. Program assignments are based on department needs, individual experience, and individual capabilities. Examples of potential primary and backup program assignments include, but are not limited to: Site Surveillance Coordinator, Inservice Inspection (ISI), Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC), Snubber Inspections and Testing, Inservice Testing (IST), Boric Acid Corrosion Control Program, Check Valve Condition Monitoring, System Pressure Testing, ASME Section XI repair/replacement, etc.

EXPERIENCE

• Relevant education (graduate school) and military service will be considered for credit as experience.
• Master’s degree in technical discipline, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology is the equivalent of 1 year experience.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• There is no Licensure or Certifications required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The individual will be developed to possess an in-depth knowledge of the structure, scope, bases, and program requirements of assigned programs. Activities and responsibilities include:
• Preparation and maintenance of inspection/examination plans
• Strategic planning of program activities including long-range plant investment planning and outage planning.
• Ensure program scope and activities comply with changes in regulations and industry guidance.
• Preparation and maintenance of inspection reports for record retention as required by regulation.
• Participation in industry activities including user groups, training, program self-assessments, benchmarking, and ASME Code Meetings as applicable.
• Preparation and maintenance of program procedures.
• Assesses, monitors, and communicates the health of programs. Advocate for the needs and continued improvement of assigned programs using forums such as management presentations and health reports.
• Serves as backup program engineer as assigned, developing a fundamental understanding of backup program requirements.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept Emergency Response Organization (ERO) position as needed.
• Accept outage position as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Travel may be required (<10%).
• May be required to carry a phone.
• Support rotational engineering duty.
WORK LOCATION
• Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.

EXPERIENCE
• Entry Level, no prior engineering experience
Engineer-in-Training II
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Required)
EXPERIENCE
• 6 months engineering, maintenance, or operations experience (Required)
Program Engineer/Spec Engineer
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 1 year of Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, or Maintenance (required)
• Engineering Degree (Preferred)
• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)
• Experience with scheduling, performing, or overseeing surveillances (preferred)
Program Engineer/Spec Engineer Sr
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 3 years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or related field (required)
• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)
• Experience with scheduling, performing, or overseeing surveillances (preferred)
Program Engineer/Spec Engineer Staff
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 5 years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or related field (required)
• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)
• Experience with scheduling, performing, or overseeing surveillances (preferred)
Program Engineer/Spec Engineer Consulting
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or Engineering Technology (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 8 years Nuclear Power Plant experience in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, or related field (required)
• Familiarity with ASME Section XI or OM Code Requirements (preferred)
• Experience with scheduling, performing, or overseeing surveillances (preferred)
