+ Under general supervision, prepares medications under the direction of a pharmacist.

+ May measure, mix, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications.

+ Adds measured drugs or nutrients to intravenous solutions under sterile conditions to prepare intravenous (IV) packs under pharmacist supervision.

+ Answers telephone, responding to questions or requests.

+ Assists customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.

+ Computes charges for medication and equipment dispensed to hospital clients.

+ Enters medical and demographic data into a computer and assists in production and preparation of reports (including billing information).

+ Fills bottles with prescribed medications and types and affixes labels.

+ Mixes pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.

+ Prices and files prescriptions that have been filled.

+ Receives written prescription or refills requests and verifies that information is complete and accurate. Supplies and monitors robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers, and labels the containers.

+ Transfers medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes, using aseptic techniques

High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience working in a pharmacy; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Pharmacy Tech 1 (HCS030) or position equivalent.
