    + Responsible for band lessons for all assigned students in grade 6-12

    + Responsible for ensemble band for all assigned students in grade 6-12

    + Provide an enjoyable and fun experience in band while following the district’s prescribed curriculum.

    + Promote the band program to parents and the community.

    + Work within structure of the band department structure to provide lessons and support as determined by administration.

    + Share and effectively work as a member of a team, planning lessons together, monitoring progress and making modifications that meet the specific needs of all students.

    + Support the content subject areas through the band curriculum.

    + Facilitate the implementation and actualization of the Teaching and Learning Plan.

    + Attend weekly CTT meetings with content team members to review curriculum, plan for instruction and monitor student achievement data.

    + Use both formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and set academic goals for improvement and acceleration.

    + Complete MTSS plans for any students needing Tier II or Tier III learning/behavior interventions.

    + Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior to achieve a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom.

    + Possible lunchroom/recess duty.

    + Participate in District and building-wide staff development activities and complete all assignments associated with the areas of study.

    + Organize your classroom to create a neat and appropriate climate for learning.

    + Incorporate PBIS strategies into your classroom.

    + Communicate with and involve families as needed to support student achievement.

    + Provide on-going instruction and practice for students in building-wide procedures.

    + Assist with all other duties as assigned by the principal.

    + Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.

    + Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.

    + Successful candidate must be willing to support the Growing Excellence Plan.

    + Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.

    + Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

    + Knowledgeable of about secondary-level practices

    + Recognition of the need for confidentiality with respect to children and parents’ rights to privacy

    + Marching Band rehearsals, performances, and competitions are outside of the school day, attendance is an expectation.

    + Instruct Marching Blue Devils, a highly competitive marching ensemble that rehearses and performs outside of the standard contract time.

    + Help coordinate and run performances, concerts, competitions, large group festivals, all-state events, solo and ensemble festivals, and other events that contribute to the overall success of the band program.

    + Annual recruiting program to enroll 8th graders.

    + Assist with instruction at the junior high band programs that help contribute to the overall success of the total band program.

    + Facilitate performances at all district music events including but not limited to Band Spectacular, Veterans Day Parade, Festival of Trees, DCSD Holiday Concert, DCSD Intermediate Large Group Festival, Ice Cream Social, IHSMA Marching Festival, etc.

    + Help facilitate SEIBA Honor Band audition day, All-State audition day, and performances. (out-of town and overnight events)

    + Be able to perform basic repairs on brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.

    + Out of town and overnight events are required throughout the concert, and marching season.

    + Competitive High School Marching Band or Drum and Bugle Corps participation/teaching is preferred.

    + Percussion expertise preferred.

    + Masters Degree in an appropriate education, music education, or instrumental music performance related field is preferred but not required.
