Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a Shop Helper to our team in Amherst, NY. In this role, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the workshop by assisting with various tasks to ensure the shop runs efficiently and smoothly. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals who are organized, hard-working, and have a strong attention to detail. The Shop Helper will support the team by maintaining cleanliness, organizing tools and inventory, and performing basic tasks as delegated by supervisors or technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assist shop employees with daily tasks, including moving, organizing, and preparing materials or tools.
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workshop area, including sweeping floors, taking out trash, and cleaning work surfaces.
+ Stock and organize supplies, tools, and inventory as required.
+ Assist in setting up and breaking down workstations or machinery.
+ Deliver tools, equipment, and parts to technicians or team members as needed.
+ Perform basic maintenance or repairs under the supervision of senior staff.
+ Adhere to safety protocols and standards within the workshop environment.
+ Operate light machinery or tools, if trained and authorized.
+ Provide support during loading and unloading of deliveries.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by the Shop Manager or supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Basic understanding of tools, equipment, and shop practices (on-the-job training provided).
+ Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
+ Physically capable of lifting, bending, or standing for extended periods.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Willingness to learn and adapt to the shop’s workflow.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Prior experience in a workshop, warehouse, or related setting is a plus.
+ Familiarity with health and safety guidelines in a workshop environment.
+ Strong work ethic and commitment to reliability and punctuality.
Work Environment:
The Shop Helper will work in an active and often fast-paced workshop environment that may involve exposure to noise, dust, and moderate physical labor. Adherence to safety standards is mandatory at all times.
Starting Wage:$18.00 per hour
