The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Safety Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
+ Complete well-defined EHS projects and corresponding duties as assigned by management and technical leadership. These duties may include aspects of safety reviews, waste management, audit assistance, chemical inventory, facilities, equipment service and metrology.
+ Interface with corporate EHS organization, and build knowledge of and communicate corporate initiatives and their effects on the lab
+ Communicate project or program status and results to leadership and laboratory operations
+ Assist in writing internal and external compliance reports
+ Investigate EHS incidents and near misses and develop action items to address root causes
+ Conduct safety audits & EHS risk assessments and identify actions for improvement
+ Support EHS regulatory interpretations for MOCs
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, toxicology, industrial hygiene or chemistry from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Three (3) years of EHS or Industrial Hygiene experience in a Laboratory or Manufacturing setting in a private, public, government or military environment
+ Experience in process safety management program implementation and maintenance
+ Experience in implementation of comprehensive exposure assessment and management systems
+ Experience with laboratories performing chemical synthesis
+ American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or willingness to obtain within the first 18 months of employment at 3M
+ Ability to work in a team atmosphere
+ Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
+ Strong computer and database skills
Work location:
+ Saint Paul, Minnesota
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $81,983 - $100,202, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
