The University at Albany, State University of New York, is seeking a dynamic, driven, and dedicated fundraising professional to join its advancement team as the Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR).
Established in 1844 and designated a University Center of the State University of New York in 1962, UAlbany's broad mission of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research, and public service engages a diverse student body of nearly 18,000 students across seven schools and colleges.
The Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, reporting to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, will play a key role in working with faculty, staff and students to increase the University's visibility among local, regional, state, and national corporate and private foundations. The role will leverage leading-edge tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance data-driven decision-making and maximize fundraising potential. The Associate Director will also bring strong organizational skills to ensure opportunities are shared broadly, projects stay on track, and deadlines are met efficiently.
A team player with a proven track record of professional growth, and successful relationship building and management. Fundraising experience in an academic setting is preferred. You are a strategic thinker with strong writing and communication skills and the ability to create genuine and lasting relationships. You are pro-active, take direction well and follow through on assignments but are also comfortable working independently. Strong organizational abilities are essential for managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are consistently met and work is efficiently tracked. A familiarity with AI tools will be key to tracking trends and refining fundraising opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders (faculty, administration, staff, etc.) to identify fundable projects, programs, and initiatives that align with the University's strategic plan.
+ Utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to research trends, identify potential funding opportunities, and evaluate past donor behaviors, creating efficiencies in the workflow process.
+ Identify appropriate corporate and foundation prospects for priority projects and work effectively with stakeholders in the development of the identified work. AI-enhanced prospect research tools can be leveraged for more targeted outreach.
+ Proactively develop long-term, authentic relationships with corporate and private foundations whose missions match the established University priorities and funding needs. Use AI to personalize outreach efforts.
+ Write and edit proposals, reports, LOIs, and other correspondence for submission of project- and initiative-based grant applications to potential foundation and corporate partners.
+ Work collaboratively with the Office of Sponsored Programs on pre-award submissions and with post-award stewardship, including narrative, acknowledgements, and reporting. Ensure timely updates and progress reports are delivered using project management tools.
+ Exercise exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects and ensure all tasks are completed on time. Implement effective project management techniques and tools to track project progress, milestones, and deadlines.
+ Track contacts and connections with both internal and external partners using CRM tools, ensuring effective follow-up and relationship management.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally accredited organization.
+ At least 2-3 years of experience in fundraising or related fields (communications, marketing or sales).

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively engage with diverse constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
+ Experience in corporate and foundation relations within a higher education setting is strongly preferred.
