Why work as Genetics Counselor at Munson Healthcare?

+ Clinical genetic services are provided for individuals and families with cancer or a strong family history of cancer. As a Genetics Counselor, you can develop and maintain good relationships with both patients and work personnel to promote open communication.

+ On a patient-by-patient basis, you may conduct pre-authorization and insurance verification of benefits for genetic counseling and testing. You will c ounsel patients and families about nature of testing, risks, benefits, and possible results.

+ Communicates and interprets normal and abnormal test results to patients. You will follow up with patients following testing and provide appropriate follow-up, counseling, and coordination of any additional testing.

What’s Required:

+ A Master's degree from an accredited genetic counseling program. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in genetic counseling by either the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC). Minimum of two years clinical experience preferred .
