    Job Description

    The Director of US Commercial Technology & Data Insights Excellence, within the Strategic Meetings & Engagement team of the Commercial Operations organization will be responsible & leads the strategy, process governance, technology & data insights innovation, alignment and implementation of the M&E portfolio synergies/alignment. The role will establish technology innovation, data management standards and efficient operations roadmap to ensure that we are successful in creating strategic business driven outcomes. This position partners with cross-functional teams including global and US stakeholders to ensure objectives and outcomes are clearly defined and measurable, along with increasing operational efficiencies for company internal customers across all functions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Strategic direction for US Commercial, Technology & Data Insights, focusing on capabilities, compliance, operational efficiency, technology innovation, data driven insights supporting business outcomes and overall cross-functional relationships,

    + Drives operational excellence by evaluating existing processes and identifying optimization opportunities within department & the Commercial Operations organization. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends process and efficiency improvements to standard operating procedures.

    + Lead cross functional collaboration and provide leadership to ensure timely decisions and alignment. Lead change management activities and technology efficiency roadmap for the US Commercial organization through matrix cross functional relationships and aligning to strategic vision.

    + Responsible scope includes end-to-end SME departmental process optimization focused on cross-functional efficiencies, data management insights strategies, technology management inclusive of CVENT, (Mobile App, Attendee Hub, CVENT oversight and SOPs) Smartsheet and technology innovation for the US Commercial Organization, JiffleNow, AI data reporting tools such as WhizAI to automate data analysis for real-time informed business decisions.

    + Designs, establishes, and maintains critical business metrics related to SME departmental data management to enable data-driven decisions throughout the commercial team.

    + Sets achievable goals and develops a team culture that inspires the team and emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, employee development, and high performance.

    + Establishes and socializes the department technology roadmap, including identifying key technology solution needs.

    + Define data insights strategy and implementation roadmap focusing on customer experience data, performance indicators, stakeholder feedback and industry standard inputs to drive targeted process and customer & employee experience improvement optimization.

    + Leads, creates, communicates, and oversees the implementation of relevant technology related to Congresses, Meetings, and Customer Engagement initiatives in addition to SME department workload efficiency technology solutions.

    + Lead partner discussions with Legal, Finance, Global Procurement, IT and other cross functional partners to ensure proper governance is being applied to all technology solutions, in adherence to Gilead guidance standards.

    + Develops and implements cross-training and knowledge sharing programs within Commercial Operations as required as well as other internal customer groups.

    + Provides knowledge sharing, process & utilization efficiency improvement training across Commercial Operations as well as Global and Medical Affairs M&E functions.

    + Develops solutions to complex problems, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.

    + Leads departmental budget management, forecasting, resource allocation, project prioritization, and scenario planning across the team.

    + Collaborate & support SME departmental operational foundation such as preferred supplier strategies defining performance indicators, process optimization, communication strategies and Commercial Engagement strategies.

    + Successfully partner with Global Commercial, Medical Affairs, Business Conduct, Finance, Regulatory, and other cross functional partners to ensure proper compliance governance and SOP/SLAs are being applied to all technology driven supporting customer engagements, congresses & events are implemented according to Gilead’s guidance standards.

    + Provide regular communication with Commercial Leadership and business partners ensuring alignment with US Commercial business objectives.

    + Lead, identify, Evaluate and Recommend process and efficiency improvements to standard operating procedures aligning with technology roadmap and deliverables to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency for the department.

    + Foster strong working relationship with relevant industry professional organizations to promote innovation and maintain industry standards for Gilead Sciences

    Basic Qualifications

    + 12+ years’ experience with BS/BA

    + 10+ years’ experience with MS/MA or MBA

    + Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Proven leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry and demonstrated capabilities in operations and experience in compliance governed customer engagement business models.

    + Experience leading & implementing departmental technology roadmaps, change management processes and driving efficiency optimization within a matrixed organization.

    + Previous experience and understanding of AI powered data insights tools for informed business decisions and outcomes.

    + Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance regulations for Meetings, Congresses, M&E Technology solutions and Operations.

    + Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among cross-functional teams.

    + Strategic understanding of market trends, implications, and evolution M&E industry standards.

    + Ability to work with urgency and prioritize across multiple tasks required.

    + Strong analytical skills are required. Experience in defining and tracking data management endpoints and utilization of insights in influencing decision making preferred.

    + Management experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

    + HMCC, CTSM Certification, CMP and/or CMM Certification preferred.

    + Ability to travel approximately 10% of time, domestically.

     

    The salary range for this position is: $210,375.00 - $272,250.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
