THE POSITION

The PennDOT District 4-0 Engineering Office is actively seeking highly skilled professionals with a strong background in this field. This position is essential to our construction projects, ensuring materials and workmanship not only meet, but exceed contract requirements and established specifications by completing inspections and testing duties. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Transportation Technician, your contributions will directly support the department’s commitment to reducing costs while achieving outstanding quality. In this position, you will i ndependently inspect routine phases of bridge and highway construction by checking grades, elevating and staking out roadway and simple structures, inspecting the alignment and placement of pipes and other drainage facilities, as well as inspecting the placement of concrete and bituminous surface materials, base materials, and other operations as needed. You will have the opportunity to assist the project supervisor with preparing periodic contractor payment estimates and progress reports summarizing the project work activities, including records of labor, material, and equipment used. Additional responsibilities include completing verification tests on concrete projects and maintaining accurate records utilizing the Computerized Documentation System.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Seasonal, full-time employment
+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This is a vendor-controlled position, work schedule is flexible.
+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
+ One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
