Job Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-focused Packaging Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, improving, and implementing custom pallet and crate packaging solutions that align with product specifications and client needs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with packaging design, material selection, and logistics—particularly with wood, corrugated, or hybrid packaging systems.
Pay and schedule: $68K base plus bonuses / Hybrid
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and engineer custom pallet and crate solutions using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Pallet Design System.
• Prepare accurate cost analyses and pricing structures for customized packaging projects.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs through smarter material use or more efficient production techniques.
• Translate customer requirements and product details into robust and protective packaging designs.
• Assess materials for durability, structural soundness, and cost-effectiveness.
• Work cross-functionally with sales, production, and logistics teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Manage technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications.
• Engage with clients during design reviews and onsite visits to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD).
• Solid understanding of packaging materials such as wood, plywood, corrugated board, and foams.
• Knowledge of industry testing standards and packaging evaluation methods.
• Strong critical thinking, organization, and project coordination skills.
• Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in packaging design, ideally in wood or industrial packaging sectors.
• Exposure to supply chain or logistics processes as they relate to packaging efficiency.
• Familiar with ISPM-15 standards and export packaging regulations.
• 2+ years of experience in packaging design, ideally in wood or industrial packaging.
• Experience in supply chain or logistics optimization as it relates to packaging.
• Familiarity with ISPM-15 compliance and international export packaging regulations.
