Mill Creek Residential is seeking an Analyst to join the Portfolio Management team. The team is responsible for Mill Creek’s separate managed accounts (SMAs) and commingled funds (Funds). With 21 offices across the United States, Mill Creek is one of the most active multifamily developers, acquirers, and operators, providing broad exposure to the multifamily and single-family build-to-rent sectors. The successful candidate will gain experience working across residential strategies, including development, core, core plus, value-add and single-family build-to-rent. The analyst position is available in either the Dallas or Boca Raton office.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate and support all aspects of portfolio management, including new investment submissions, hold/sell analysis, return calculations, reforecasting, cash flow projections, variance analysis, benchmarking, market intelligence, pipeline, and other Fund reporting
Provide investment modeling support and perform various ad hoc analysis for the portfolio manager and other senior management
Evaluate and report on the performance of assigned portfolios by analyzing financials and utilizing market and internal data sources
Help manage the new development and acquisition process, capital calls and distributions for assigned SMAs/Funds
Assist with refinancing and disposition strategies for SMA/Fund communities
Prepare summaries, reports, recommendations and other interpretive documents to support portfolio business decisions
Support the development and implementation of new applications, technology, programs and other innovative business practices to drive increased efficiency, productivity, and process improvements
Opportunity to travel to various markets across Mill Creek’s 21 offices nationwide to conduct site visits to existing communities and perform diligence on new investment opportunities
Required Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. A master’s degree or relevant industry certifications are a plus
A minimum of 1-year experience in portfolio management, finance, investment brokerage, or other applicable positions in the multi-family real estate industry is highly preferred. Relevant internships may be considered
High-level aptitude in Excel modeling and demonstrated proficiency in common industry software
Demonstrated financial skills necessary to create and analyze complex financial models using Excel and Argus (Argus experience is a plus but not required). Understanding of joint venture waterfall structures is a plus
Strong written and communication skills to effectively prepare and present financial and portfolio reporting to senior management, team members, and external investors
General understanding of the real estate industry, in particular multi-family housing, to relate financial and operating analysis to practical business solutions and process improvements
Strong desire to learn from multiple functional groups and to join a high-functioning team with ample opportunities for increased responsibility
