    Overview

    THE ROLE:

    The 3rd Shift Changeover Technician I will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in Lake Forest, CA. Will be responsible for the effective changeover of the packaging lines between product runs. This will include breakdown of equipment, cleaning, re-assembly, set-up of the line to run the next product, training of other employees, and assisting with line clearance. The Technician I, Changeover optimizes equipment performance by fine tuning and adjusting equipment to improve quality and efficiency, while also coordinating with maintenance for any assistance needed. This position is very experienced in packaging equipment operations, change overs, and set up of equipment while working independently or in coordination with line leads in the execution of duties on all packaging lines. The Technician will help implement and maintain the TPM program and perform packaging duties as necessary. This position will receive direction from the Production Supervisor and work closely with line leads to ensure schedule adherence.

    HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

    + Proactively assist with change overs up to but not limited to assembly and disassembly of the bottle unscrambler, filler, labeler, case packer, palletizer, scooper, rails, and palletizer.

    + Re-assembles the packaging line according to next run specifications (Bottle width, bottle height, cap size, label specs, corrugate case size, etc.), ensuring first time right on set up.

    + Leads TPM program for machine setup and troubleshooting including equipment inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and tuning of settings to ensure quality and efficient equipment operation.

    + Leads changeover operations and validates setup of all machinery on all packaging lines prior to production run to minimize line down time.

    + Takes ownership of changeovers and ensures changeovers are completed first time right while meeting changeover completion time expectations.

    + Present on the packaging lines and actively participate in equipment adjustment during startup coming out of any shutdown, clean, or size change.

    + Actively verify equipment at all times for any signs of missing parts, excessive wear, broken parts, or any other concerns. See through resolution of concerns whether corrected personally, through maintenance (onsite or requested through e-maint), or any other source.

    + Actively continue to assist in development and sustainment of 5s program throughout the facility.

    + Ensure change parts are cleaned, inspected, and stored in their designated location in a timely manner.

    + Assist with optimization of equipment set up with goal to reduce any downtime during change over or set up process, as well as to ensure lines are operating effectively to increase uptime.

    + Conducts standard or detailed cleaning of all parts according to cleaning procedures including but not limited to machinery, change parts, checkweighers and capper chucks.

    + Performs Lock Out Tag Out procedures on packaging lines and perform all duties within OSHA safety rules and regulations at all times.

    + Ensure compliance with current good manufacturing practices (cGMP).

    + Align with all company policies and procedures including safety rules and regulations.

    + Understands how to read and change recipes on all fillers, unscramblers, palletizer, and scooper.

    + Perform training for employees on changeovers and troubleshooting of equipment.

    + Assist in development and improvement of SOPs and work instructions related to TPM or change overs.

    + Actively participate in packaging Kaizen events as well as assist with packaging CI projects.

    + Conducts routine boiler checks and inform maintenance team of any abnormalities.

    + Perform cleaning and setup of Videojets and UBS printers.

    + Assist with packaging duties as required by Packaging Lead or Packaging Supervisor.

    + Additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

    Skills

    + Experienced in equipment change over on all packaging lines.

    + Sound mechanical proficiency and basic maintenance experience

    + Ability to trouble shoot equipment and fine tine equipment settings for optimization

    + Good interpersonal and communication skills

    + Must be highly team oriented

    + High attention to detail

    + Ability to collaborate with machine control panels and computers

    + Requires minimal supervision while performing tasks

    + Ability to manually handle packaging product in a quickly and timely manner

    + Ability to apply basic math skills required to control inventory

    + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

    + Ability to comprehend and follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations

    + Ability to understand, speak, read and write in the English language

    + Basic computer skills

    Experience:

    + 2 years of experience in a fast paced production or production packaging environment.

    + Prior experience and knowledge of cGMP

    + Experience working/participating in a team based environment

    Education:

    + High School Diploma or GED equivalent

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Prior experience with changeover production processing

    + Experience with powder or liquid packaging equipment

    + Experience with basic maintenance and trouble shooting

    + Familiar with cGMP requirements
