    Purpose:

    Responsible for the proper purchasing and receiving of medications and supplies. Control and maintain pharmacy inventory. Delivers drugs to patient care and other areas as needed. Responsible for assisting with floor stock orders and other medications as needed. Assists Pharmacists as directed. Maintains daily report.

    Responsibilities:

    + Selects drugs from stock in proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by the physician under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Repackages drugs into a unit-of-use container. Prepare correct labeling for bulk drugs. Correctly interpret physician orders and can distinguish between pharmaceutical orders, laboratory tests, radiology, nursing, and other orders. Basic understanding of the concept of physical stability and chemical stability as it relates to parenteral pharmaceuticals. Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations. Understands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products. Accurately fills floor stock request. Perform monthly medication storage area inspections. Receives and unpacks incoming medications and supplies daily. Determines medication amounts to be ordered and places orders daily. Investigate discrepancies in drugs and supplies received. Investigate medication shortages and backorders.

    + Education and Formal Training Required: High School Diploma or GED required.

    + Must have successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician course or be a graduate of a Practical Nursing Program with successful completion of the designated portion of the LPN Medication Administration Course.

    + Experience Required: Instead of the educational requirements, an individual must have one year of acceptable experience as a Pharmacy Service Technician. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
